Children
Children just sort of crop up places in Bep society.
On the topic of children: Our anthropologists haven't been able to figure out where they come from. The closest they got was some network of natal care facilities. Even there, the very helpful and approachable staff stuck to vague formulations such as "they occur" while evading most of our questions through what seemed to be genuine confusion. We have not observed anybody having a child, nor any typical ways of conceiving them leading to children or symptoms thereof, nor the disappearances of any potential parents. In general, we have yet to observe any symptoms of somebody having a child anywhere in Bep society. Those of the general public that we have asked seem genuinely perplexed regarding our lack of comprehension of the concept that children "occur", and tend to find our colleagues' confusion entertaining. None have offered any even remotely helpful, let alone exhaustive explanations. We must thus conclude, until further investigation yields a more detailed answer, that children in bep society indeed simply occur.
Historical role of children
Children have existed for all of known Bep history, although there have not been any serious inquiries into their origins.
